Excerpt: Just Trust Me
“Your eyes were always such a pretty shade of green.” He said with that lopsided grin on his smug face.
“My eyes are blue.” I muttered looking up at him so he could see my clearly aqua-colored eyes.
He blinked leaning closer and adjusting his glasses on the end of his pointed nose. “Well so they are.” He said after a moment then turned back to the shelves of books around the room. “That doesn’t matter anyhow, have you finished what you’re working on?”
“You mean what YOU have me working on?” I hissed turning away from the five hundred-some page book he’d slammed in front of me to read. “Of course I have, I mean I’ve been sitting here for five minutes reading surly I have read everyone of these pages to the fullest and can now write you a one page essay on what this whole piece of junk is about!”
“Well, no need to be snippy young lady. I am doing you a favor here.”
“A favor no one asked you to do.” I stomped to my feet. “You come into my home in the middle of the night, take me away and put giant book after giant book in front of me with no rhyme or reason! Are you ever going to explain this to me?”
“Soon.” He said turning away from me again. “Soon.”
