Brief Author Bio: I'm 20, and you can call me Aleka. I'm wasting my time learning XHTML and CSS, as I need it for a forum I run (of the sci-fi variety). I love writing, and I love wasting my time with Photoshop and watching sci-fi shows (and music videos on YouTube and bloopers from said shows). In especial, Whedon's masterpieces of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," and "Firefly." And the amazingness that is Babylon 5. I have a fair number of OCD tendencies (CDO!) and I eat my M&Ms according to colour and eat the largest group first, down to the smallest. I don't like mixing my food, except maybe peas or corn with mashed potatoes. And ham dipped in applesauce. But no mixing everything together. Things must be alphabetical and organized according to size. Unfortunately, sometimes those two clash and I go nuts. I'm pretty much insane, introverted until you get me going on something I love, and I adore both beach and mountains. Someday I want to make a movie (write/produce/direct/act/costume). I want to see the world with my darling husband, get a kitty, and have a few kids. And then I want to move to a ranch in Northern Mexico (Sonora) and live happily ever after. I love fairy tale endings. :) |

Synopsis: Dreams Are Made On
In a world where anything can happen because you write it, the regular rules don't apply...
Excerpt: Dreams Are Made On
Cameron chewed on her pen and thought for a few more moments before glowering at Laurie and scribbling in her notebook. Once upon a time there was a lovely forest. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and all seemed right with the world.
“Yeah, that seems a little boring, but...”
She abruptly stopped mid-sentence and glanced blankly around. The setting sun over Boston Commons had disappeared—as had the ducks and duck boats and crazy traffic and park benches—and was replaced by a tranquil forest at about midday. Cameron slowly turned in a circle, staring at the scenery, working on taking it in, and trying to figure out what happened. Laurie, meanwhile, was staring intently at the notebook Cameron held in her hand. For a moment, neither of them said anything, and Cameron reached out to touch a tree as if to see if it were real.
“Write something else!” Laurie said eagerly.
“Wait, what... why...?” Cameron wasn't always the brightest crayon in the box—not that she was stupid, just not always quick on her feet—and was a little confused by Laurie's suggestion.
“Just trust me. Write something!”
“But, we're in a forest, Laurie...”
“Yes, and that's the whole point! Write something, anything! I don't care, really. Make a snowman appear in July, for all I care... just write!”
“Alright, alright... just a second...”
Cameron scribbled some more in her notebook. Her pen had barely lifted from the page before a snowman—complete with carrot nose and a pipe in his mouth—appeared in front of them.
“What the hell...?” Cameron looked from the snowman, to Laurie, to her notebook, and back to Laurie. “This is seriously starting to creep me out. What the hell are you doing, Laurie?”
“I'm not the one holding the notebook, Cameron.”
“Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with facts, Laurence Charles Colton! You are the one who told me to write more, let's not forget.”
“Let's also not forget that you are the one who actually did the writing.”
“Okay, so, I wrote, and it somehow happened. Are you seriously telling me that this is what's going on? This only happens in books, I swear.”
“Well, it did happen. If you don't believe me, try writing something else.”
