Excerpt: Zombie Host Boys of the Dotonbori
It had been a rough night at work for the Queen. Despite the fact that she was an English teaching Dominatrix, she wasn’t very keen on teaching. When combined with the dominatrix get up, it was quite entertaining, but her heart was elsewhere.
Still, it had been clear when she’d left for work. She had to make a detour around the Dotonburi, but had been surprised by the speed of the rebuilding process. The plan said they were hoping to have it fully rebuilt in a month. She could believe it. She saw them working on the construction when she left for work to go to the day job, and again when she headed out for her night job. And now that it was after the night job?
The construction workers were still working. It was odd and uncanny.
And then to top is all off, it was raining.
The Queen was walking home from her part-time job in the rain. Thunder rumbled in the sky, and walking down the dark road towards her apartment, huddled under her umbrella, all she could think about was warming up leftover soup.
Looking up, she saw a man blocking her path. A cold chill ran through her bones, the figure was familiar, somehow. Familiar and threatening. She could tell his hair was fluffy despite the rain, and his lack of any umbrella.
No one could threaten the Queen. She was scared.
Lightning crashed in the sky, and for a moment, the figure was illuminated. He was Japanese, with tall hair streaked with perfect highlights. His lips were pulled back in a ferocious grin, and his teeth were like sharp spikes in his mouth. His clothes were completely soaked, and his opened button down shirt revealed skin that looked like it had died underwater.
“Jason.”
Blinded by the next bolt of lightning, the Queen shielded her eyes, and when she opened them again, he was gone.
The rain howled on.
