Sitting alone
In perfect silence,
Dreaming of windmills
Shaped like giants.
Think not of what is
But what could be,
I close my eyes
And start to see
The girl who watches me;
a careful stare,
Though I know
She isn't there.
Would that I
Could feel her skin
And know the dreams
She holds within,
For we all dream
Because we dare,
Even the girl
Who isn't there.
A gentle touch
Upon my ear
Soothes my heart,
Yet I fear
I'll remain always
Chasing shadows,
Longing for anything
To ease my woes
